Mickey Smith received a B.A. in photography from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1994. Represented by Invisible-Exports in New York City, Smith has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including shows at the Alvar Aalto Library in Vyborg, Russia, and the Center for Photography in Woodstock, NY. Smith, who lives in New York City, has received the McKnight Artist Fellowship for Photography as well as grants from Forecast Public Art Affairs, CEC ArtsLink, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
